Here you will notice George W. Bush hurl a perfect pitch just after 9/11 at the old Yankee Stadium, during the World Series. GW was 55 years-old at the time.

Below is a video clip of Obama throwing out the first pitch in last nights All Star game. Notice the horrible form he has and the ball hitting the dirt before it hits Prince Albert Pujols' glove. Weak. Obama is only 47 years-old, so age can't be used as an excuse.

Luckily, this T-Rex didn't fair any better than Bush and Obama. This video was taken at a White Sox game a year ago (or so). Keep in mind, T-Rex has much shorter arms than Bush and Obama, so it's harder for him to throw the ball to the catcher.

This is a video of the Lake Express Ferry returning up-river (Milwaukee) to it's winter resting place. This ferry transports cars and earthlings to Michigan (vice versa)...and it's pretty damn expensive to make the trip. I'm told that there is a 15 span during the trip where you can't see land on either side.

Have you seen the new Maytag commercial for their line of front-load washing machines? It's the one where they line up 2 rows of washing machines and to show how "tough" the machines are, they drive a monster truck over them. Maybe you have, maybe you haven't. Anyway, if you see it, there is a disclaimer on the ad saying "Do not attempt." Is there a slight chance someone might go out and purchase 40 washing machines and then buy a monster truck to drive over them next weekend? WTF? Just another example of how litigious we have become.

I really want to see Frost/Nixon, right now. But do we get it Green Bay? No, but we of course get Paul Blart Mall Cop on opening weekend which I heard is under serious consideration for the Best Picture Oscar. Watching Kevin James do that slide behind the elevator is so hilarious. Oh and Marley and Me is playing on 2 screens at both theaters which I guess makes sense. And we always get the newest Larry the Cable Guy movies right away too. Maybe I should have John sneak a camera in and get me a bootlegged version. Probably the only way I will see it before it comes out on DVD. F#$% You Marcus Theaters.

30 Rock, in my mind, is the most OVERRATED show on television. I have attempted three times to watch this effortless comedy and not once did I laugh. Sure, I smiled a couple of times when Baldwin or Tracy Morgan said something remotely funny. As for Tina Fey, I find her to be more annoying than funny. Sorry Ryan.

The Office is in decline and some argue that Sunny in Philly lost it's swagger in the last season. I am running out of options. Any suggestions?

My vote for the next Brewers manager goes for Bobby Valentine. I don't feel that Dale Sveum has the skills/experience to lead this young Brewer team to another wild card birth...or better yet....an NLCS appearance. Although Bobby Valentine has not necessarily thrown his hat in the ring, I do feel that the Brewers should pursue him.

I am down in Milwaukee right now and I have listened to sports radio now for the past couple of hours. If I hear one more "fan" say they want Willie-Fricken-Randolph...I will throw this radio out the window. He sucks.

5 Years Since the Bartman Incident.....Cubs still suck

It has been 5 years since the infamous Bartman incident at Wrigley Field that sparked an entire teams fanbase to hate a single fan. Despite the fact that Alou claimed he wouldn't have even caught the ball, the Chicago Cubs' nation is still irate over this poor guy. Rightfieldbleachers.com blog pointed this out to me.

Here is a fantastic story about the incident and what kind guy Steve Bartman is. This story makes me hate the Cubs even more and the city of Chicago (except for Link and a few others). This city is filled with obnoxious idiots who are like deer in headlights when it comes to their loveable losers. Keep in mind Chicago...the Brewers made it farther than the f'n cubs this post season!

Remember the Wausau Timbers? Man, I loved going to those games. That's where I first met Thiel...I was busy watching the game and he was acting like a monkey climbing the bleachers.

San Fransisco infielder Omar Vizquel (misspelled on card) played for the Wausau Timbers.

As did Harold Reynolds and Ivan Calderon...hell, Chuckie Carr even donned the Timber uniform. A-Rod played on that field too as an Appleton Fox!

Here is a compiled list of record holders for the coveted Wausau Timbers. I was saddened when they moved south to Kane County.

Super heroes. It's a great time to be a nerd. In fact, this is like the summer of nerds: Batman, Iron Man, Hulk...even wierd spoof-type movies like Hancock. Ever since The Incredibles took a funny, ironic look at all those superhero themes, it seems like pop culture has been fascinated with them.

People have been asking me about good books to read for the summer. Well, I've got a million of 'em. But Soon I Will Be Invincible seems like an appropriate recommendation for the summer of superheroes. I don't have time to write a review for the thing, and The Onion A.V. Club says it better than I could anyway, so read that review and check out the book (now in paperback!). I can't say enough about this book, so I'm not even gonna try. Just read it; it will rock the face right off your head. I read it this winter and then read half of it again this spring. (It's written in alternating chapters about a supervillain and a confused cyborg-chick. If you don't like one character or the other, you can just skip every other chapter and only read about one. It's like the book has TWO IDENTITIES! Get it?). So read it. We're talkin' hard-chargin', hair-on-fire, bust-your-shit-open, cool book here.

A Bit Late...Where Has This Summer Gone?

I was gonna post this on my last day of school (June 11), but, y'know, better late than never. There's something inherently funny about Muppets. Well, I had a nice 2-day summer vacation before I started teaching summer school Spanish. This summer is flyin' by. What really sucks is that I have no sound on my computer, so I can't watch most of the vids on here (but the girl spinning on the escalator was awesome, Link).

Now for some non sequiturs: Scotty, Prince will be around because the Crew controls his contract for at least 2-3 more years; they'll just have to pay him ungodly amounts because of arbitration. Kennedy, good to see you posting on this thing. Dust, stop being a hermit. Thiel, you're sneaky presence on this blog keeps things interesting. Yes, Scotty, I want to battle-rap Shaq's big, cockeyed ass (Ooohh snap!). When is It's Always Sunny coming back? Has anyone ever watched The Venture Brothers on Adult Swim? I hear Gallagher is married. Congrats! I'm obsessed with Radiohead and TV on the Radio lately, so much so that I made an iTunes playlist called TV on the Radiohead. Pretty fuckin' clever huh? Well everyone...we are at July (tomorrow) already and soon the NFL camps will be starting. It won't be long before a couple of us are at Dust's house drinking beer and doing the fantasy draft. Dust, will there be shot girls to serve us?

Green Bay, again, is taking back seat to the Vikings in preseason predictions. Hell, some even have the Bears ahead of the Packers. Biggest question is...what did the Packers do to address their problems/openings? This off season has been more silent then those in the past. Should that be a concern?

The Wisconsin Badgers are picked in the top 15 by most publications. Most have them at the 10-13 spot in the preseason rankings. My Lindy's Magazine has them #11. They have an abundance of great running backs and a solid blocking full back. The quarterback position is still up in the air between Allen Evridge and Dustin Sherer, with Evridge probably going to win it out with his experience at Kansas State and fill ins last year. He's been playing college football for half a decade now (I think).

The Brewers are still one of the hottest teams in baseball. The Cubs have lost 4 straight and the Cardinals are now only 2.5 games out of first (brewers are 4.5). The NL Central is the best division in baseball.
Enjoy Ben Sheets while you can people. He's sionara (sp?) after the season. Prince will follow suit next year. Prince should be a lot easier to fill in as we have one of the best AA (Huntsville) teams in the MLB Farm System, especially with Matt LaPorta and Mat Gamel.

I hope all of your summers are going well. Paul, I hope that you are out tanning that turf-chest of yours and lifting dumbells in the rain while your neighbors look out at you.

Looks as if Javon Walker's luck, or company he keeps, is pretty bad. He was found beaten and unconsious off the Las Vegas Strip last night.

He has had a shady past couple of years. He was involved in that shooting that occurred a couple of years ago when the a Bronco teammate of his was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting. That even stemmed from a club brawl that poured out in to the streets. His silly ass wore the same blood soaked shirt from that night, in to the Bronco's HQ's the next morning. No one quite knows why he did that or what he was proving other than he was hanging out with the wrong crowd.

I just don't know what the fuss is over soccer? I remember when I lived in Milwaukee, the World Cup was going on (2004) and I was amazed how many people liked this sport. This sport that involved kicking a round ball through a netted goal. When I used to tend bar at an Irish joint and even an Italian bar (themed)....I was shocked that credible customers of mine would ask me to change the station to Soccer. I would mock them, but then wonder to myself if I was the one who should be mocked?

I notice how ESPN tries to slam it down our throats, by including it in "Top 10 Plays" and ESPN Deportes. They raise their voice as they do a "header" through the net.
I think to myself that I was not surprised by that, nor was I entertained.
Instead, I thought "WOW, that's a low scoring game" (3-2).

My point is this, I will have my son (Landon) play soccer to improve his coordination and learn team work. Because hey, I would not have been the stud athlete I was in HS, if it weren't for Soccer (sarcasm, I was not good at sports). I treat Soccer as a prep course to Football. The sport everyone can associate themselves with.

We, dumb Americans, love Football. Why? Well.....because they don't do "headers" nor do they cover their nuts during a penalty shot.

The only Soccer I ever watched was doing a road trip down to Madison in 1997 to watch Ben, paul, Will, and Markey (or was he with us in the car?) play a high school from Brookfield. I made the trip with Link and Dust...and some others....I can't remember who though (fill me in guys). I enjoyed watching that game, despite the losing. My point is this....I will give Soccer a chance....I will watch MLS (right?) and see if I enjoy it.

Lastly, this is a reason why I will watch soccer!

Oh! This too..... Fort McCoy is a very historical Army Base in Wisconsin located by Tomah and Sparta Wisconsin (90-94 hwy Fork).They recently received funding to improve their barracks. Thank God. Why you ask? Well, when I was in the guard Weiland and I were in the same unit. We joined together back in 1998....LOVED IT. Anyway, we always had to train at Fort McCoy in Wisconsin, an old-ass base with WWII-esque living quarters. The bathroom stalls lacked bathroom stall-walls........or lack there-of. Meaning this, there were no stalls to shield each other from their short-comings. Visualize this people. Me taking a mudder, with Weilo across from me, but so close that our knees are touching each other...you know, the proximity of the toilets in this communal atmosphere. He would touch my leg and look me in the eye and ask me...."Why are you scared"...or "You need some help wiping?". While sitting across from me....so close that we were touching knees.

So when I read this......it meant that those old-ass barracks were getting bathroom stalls...like what we have in malls, stadiums. and other public places.

Creepy Northwoods Town

So....as we approach the Memorial Day weekend, most of you will probably be heading up north to have your campfires, drink some Pabst (the Heineken of the northwoods) and spend time with your families.

Well, on your way up north make sure you stop in Shawno,WI. This quaint little town lies on Hwy 29, about half way between Wausau and Green Bay. Great little get away that is ideal for fishing or boating.

However, it is also home to some odd stories.

There is a creepy religious sect up there that is run by a mysterious Indian immigrant who has a silent group of followers in the area. This leader's name is R.C. Samantra Roy and he has been buying up commercial and residential property through out this quiet town.

I found out about this creepy religious group on Channel 7 news of all places (yea, I know, actual journalism) of Wausau. They are running a week long special called "Secrets in Shawno". It was actually quite interesting and creepy at the same time. Kelly's Aunt and Uncle live there so I will have to question them.

Pretty freaky shit if you ask me. This group owns a lot of stores and even a gas station there. They also have naked parties at the Best Western Hotel there, closing the entire hotel down and frollicking around butt ass naked. There is also reports of mistreating children and their followers. I'm talking some crazy ass Waco,TX stuff.

Also, this is the same creepy county that is home to Tigerton,WI.... which is in Shawano County. I remember when I was a little kid hearing about this scary hate-group who lived over there. The Posse Comitatus. Hell, there was even a made-for-tv movie on them!

So....enjoy you're weekend up north, and if you're close to Shawano County....lock them doors.

PS. I hate the show Two and a Half Men. Hate it. Throw in Everybody Loves Raymond as well!

Things I like & don't like...

I like Chips Restaurant/Burgerstand in Merrill,WI. Since moving to Merrill from Milwaukee this place provides me with greasy food and custard. That of course is the staple of Milwaukee's privately owned fast food joints. Places like Leon's, Copps, Gille's, and even Bella's Fat Cat, they always provided me with that extra poke of fun in my stomach. I now rely on Chips to do just that.

Not to mention the history behind it. It was always Chips and Howards in Wausau when are parents were growing up. My father having worked at both of them can tell me of the good ol' times had at both. They were of course the place to hang out, Chips across the street from the old 29 Super Market on 17th ave and Howards was just south of our Court House in Wausau. What's neat about Chips is that it is still a hang out for local teenagers in Merrill. They are always there when I drive by on my way home from work. They are "seen" and allowed to just simply loiter. Although there are signs there posted against this, they allow them to hang out from what I see. Sort of reminds me of the TV show Friday Night Lights, they hang out a similar place on that show. Which is not real, but Chips is.

I don't like MTV and find myself thinking that the end is near when I watch it. I especially hate The Hills and those talentless whores who frequent it. I think bad things, and I find my blood pressure rise in doing so. Not healthy. It's one thing to have it on that trash tv, but all over the magazines too? You can't help but notice there freak-nasty faces when buying groceries are lookig for your favorite sport mag at Borders. I hate them. And Tela Tequila too! AHHHHHHH.
